If I order an extra hearing aid for $149.85, what will I receive?
You will receive 1 hearing aid (ear piece only), 1 set of ear caps in 5 various sizes and 2 different styles, and 1 cleaning brush. The charging case that you receive when you order the full kit has dual charging slots, so an additional case is not necessary. While you are wearing your hearing aid(s), you can charge up to two others so you’ll always have spares ready whenever you need them. The charging case is compact enough to fit in a purse or pocket and also runs on AAA batteries, so you can carry it with you and charge your hearing aids wherever you are.
NOTE: the cost of the extra ear piece(s) is fully refundable if order is canceled/product is returned within 90 days of delivery.

Does this hearing aid fit inside the outer ear, the ear canal or behind the ear?
The Lee Majors Rechargeable Bionic Hearing Aid fits inside the outer ear.

What are the ear caps and how are they used / What can I do to ensure the most comfortable fit?
The ear caps are soft pliable tips that are placed on the tip of the hearing aid before it is inserted into the ear. We include two different styles and a total of five different sizes so you can choose the cap that provides you the most comfortable fit. We suggest that you start with the medium sized ear cap. If the fit is too loose, switch to the larger size. If the fit is too tight, use a smaller size.

The two charging nodes on the underside of the hearing aid should always be facing toward your head, and the hearing aid should fit comfortably and securely within the outer ear. If you have trouble slipping the hearing aid into your ear, you can rub a little bit of mineral oil on the ear cap to facilitate insertion. You may also benefit from pulling back on your ear with one hand while inserting the hearing aid into your ear. Finally, if you are wearing the hearing aid in your right ear, insert the hearing aid so that the volume control dial is above the microphone hole. If the hearing aid is to be worn in the left ear, the volume control dial should be beneath the microphone hole for a more comfortable fit.

It does take time to adjust to wearing a hearing aid. We recommend that you start out wearing it only for an hour or two on the first day. Increase the length of time you wear your hearing aid each day by one hour, until you are able to wear it for a full day. If you experience discomfort during the break in period, take it out of your ear during the day when it is not needed to give your ear a break.

Is this product available in any other color or tone?
Not at this time.

Will this hearing aid work for all forms of hearing loss?
No. This hearing aid is designed for those at least 18 years of age with mild to moderate hearing loss. If you have any concerns or suffer from any of the following, we recommend that you consult with a licensed physician prior to ordering:

  • Visible deformity of the ear
  • Fluid or drainage from the ear during the last 90 days
  • Sudden, rapidly progressing, or fluctuating hearing loss
  • Spells of acute or chronic dizziness
  • Hearing loss only on one side that has worsened during the last 90 days
  • Ear canal blockage, a lasting ear infection, or a plugged up fullness feeling
  • Excessive wax buildup or a history of excessive wax buildup
  • Pain or discomfort in the ear
  • Ringing in one or both ears within the last 90 days

Will my hearing aid amplify all sounds?
Hearing aids amplify all sounds, including speech as well as background noises; they do not completely separate the sounds you want to hear from the ones you do not want to hear. If background noise is an issue, try adjusting the volume to a more comfortable level. If the background noise is still too loud, we suggest that you refrain from using this product in noisy areas or conditions where it is not comfortable for you to do so.

What are some common experiences reported by hearing aid wearers?

  • Discomfort. If your hearing aid feels slightly uncomfortable at first, try the following:
  • Wear it for one or two hours on the first day; add one hour each day until you are able to wear it comfortably for a full day.
  • It is recommended that you start with the medium sized ear cap. If the fit is too loose, switch to the larger size. If it is too tight, use smaller size.
  • The two charging nodes on the underside of the hearing aid should always be facing toward your head, and the hearing aid should fit comfortably and securely within the outer ear.
  • If you have trouble slipping the hearing aid into your ear, you can rub a little bit of mineral oil on the silicone ear cap to facilitate insertion. You may also benefit from pulling back on your ear with one hand while inserting the hearing aid.
  • If you are wearing the hearing aid in the right ear, insert it into your ear so that the volume control dial is above the microphone hole for a more comfortable fit. If wearing the hearing aid in the left ear, the hearing aid should be inserted into the ear so that the volume control dial is situated beneath the microphone hole.
  • The occlusion effect - the "plugged-up" sensation that causes a hearing aid user's voice to sound louder inside the head - is very common for new hearing aid users. Most individuals get used to this effect over time.
  • Some people who wear hearing aids experience problems with the radio frequency interference caused by digital cell phones.

Can I use this hearing aid with a mobile phone?
Due to the radio frequency interference caused by digital cell phones, you may not be able to use any hearing aid with a mobile phone. While you're wearing your hearing aid, if you experience buzzing or other noises when also using your cell phone, first try rotating the phone ear piece away from your ear slightly and/or lowering the volume on both the cell phone and your hearing aid to see if the sound quality improves. If the noises persist, we recommend that you refrain from using your hearing aid with a mobile phone or other devices that emit radio waves.

How can I reduce feedback noise?

  • If your hearing aid is turned on, you will experience feedback when placing it into your ear. To help minimize that feedback, make sure you are covering the microphone hole while you are placing the hearing aid into your ear. If you are not covering the microphone hole, you will hear a brief period of feedback when placing the hearing aid into your ear. Once you remove your hand from your ear, the feedback will go away.
  • You can also reduce feedback noise by adjusting the volume and ensuring that the ear cap fits snugly. Use another sized ear cap for a more snug fit if necessary.
  • A whistling sound can also be caused by a hearing aid that is clogged by earwax or fluid. Try removing the hearing aid and cleaning it before reinserting it into your ear.

  • Will a second hearing aid help to further improve my hearing?
According to the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) if you experience hearing loss in both ears, two hearing aids are generally recommended because two aids provide a more natural signal to the brain. Hearing in both ears also will help you understand speech and locate where the sound is coming from. Of course, the effectiveness of the hearing aid will depend on the type of hearing aid and the kind and severity of your particular hearing loss. The Lee Majors Rechargeable Bionic Hearing Aid is designed for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. If you have any questions or concerns, we recommend that you discuss your specific needs with your physician.

Many of our customers purchase extra ear pieces not because they have hearing loss in both ears, but because they like to have a backup hearing aid. As you know, rechargeable batteries are convenient, but they do need to be recharged at regular intervals. Fully charged, the rechargeable battery in these hearing aids will provide between 6 and 10 hours of operation, it all depends on the volume level that you set on the hearing aid. Purchasing extra ear pieces will ensure that you always have a hearing aid charged and ready for use when you need it. The charging case that comes with your kit has dual charging slots. While you are wearing your hearing aid(s), you can charge up to two others so you’ll always have spares ready whenever you need them. The charging case is compact enough to fit in a purse or pocket and also runs on AAA batteries, so you can carry it with you and charge your hearing aids wherever you are.

Is this hearing aid available without a prescription or exam by a physician?
Yes, although The Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") has determined that it is in your best health interest to seek a medical evaluation by a licensed physician prior to purchasing any hearing aid. If you have or think you may have any of the following conditions, we recommend consulting a doctor before purchasing this product.

In many states, if you are at least 18 years old, you may accept a waiver prior to purchase acknowledging that you were given the opportunity to review the user manual and understand the FDA's determination that waiver of a medical evaluation may not be in your best interest. When ordering the Lee Majors Rechargeable Bionic Hearing Aid, a waiver will be presented to you during the ordering process. If you would like to review the user manual for the Lee Majors Rechargeable Bionic Hearing Aid, click on the User Manual link at the bottom of this page.

Is this device suitable for use by children?
No. The Lee Majors Rechargeable Bionic Hearing Aid is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18.

How long will a full charge last?
As you know, rechargeable batteries are convenient, but they do need to be recharged at regular intervals. When fully charged, the rechargeable battery in these hearing aids will provide between 6 and 10 hours of operation, it all depends on the volume level that you set on the hearing aid. A louder volume will consume more battery power.

How many charges will the hearing aid take?
Between 500 and 1,000 charges, depending on personal use and care habits and frequency of charging.

How do I know if the battery in my hearing aid is low?
The hearing aid will make a slight beep when the battery power is low.

How do I know if the device is fully charged?
The green indicator light to the right of the charging slot where the hearing aid is seated will turn on if the hearing aid is charging correctly. You can then shut the case to protect your hearing aid from dust. To charge the hearing aid fully, leave it on the charger for approximately 8 hours. When the hearing aid is fully charged, the charging indicator light next to the hearing aid will turn off.

Why is my hearing aid not charging?
    • The hearing aid may already be fully charged; when the hearing aid is fully charged, the charging indicator light turns off.
    • The hearing aid may not be seated correctly in the charging case.
    • The hearing aid may be turned off or power may not be getting to the charging case.

Check to make sure that the hearing aid is in the ON position by turning the volume adjustment knob in a clockwise direction. The hearing aid cannot charge while it is off. Also, ensure that the AC adaptor is plugged in to both the charging case and an electrical outlet. If using batteries, ensure that fresh AAA batteries are inserted snugly and properly, positive (+) to positive (+) and negative (-) to negative (-).

How do I maintain/clean my hearing aid?
    • Make sure to keep debris free of the opening in the ear cap by using the cleaning brush to clean the hearing aid after each use.
    • Keep your hearing aid away from heat and moisture, direct sunlight, humidity and dust.
    • Do not wear your hearing aid while sleeping, participating in vigorous exercise or other physical activity, showering/bathing, washing your hair, swimming or engaging in any other activity during which the hearing aid may get wet.
    • Avoid using hairspray or other hair care products while wearing your hearing aid.
    • Keep your hearing aid out of reach of infants, children and pets.
    • Never attempt to open or disassemble your hearing aid yourself, there are no user serviceable parts inside.
